Group Policy processing failed: could not read gpt.ini

What it means

The computer couldn’t read a policy file from SYSVOL.

Why it matters

Usually SYSVOL replication or DFS access problems, so policies don’t apply.

What to do

• Check that \\yourdomain\SYSVOL opens from the client.
• Check DFS Replication health on the domain controllers.

Find it with PowerShell

Get-WinEvent -MaxEvents 20 -FilterHashtable @{
  LogName = 'System'; Id = 1058
} | Select-Object TimeCreated, ProviderName, Message

Add -ComputerName SERVER to query another machine. Other event sources can reuse the same ID number, so check the ProviderName column.
